Shannon and Steven Wright were in the middle of a huge controversy when Steven was arrested for domestic violence on December 8, 2017. Though Wright agreed to be a part of the altercation With his wife he refused the allegation saying there wasn't any physical violence. He was suspended for 15 games. He then posted a photo of his wife and him on Twitter (Knucklepuck23) after the case was retired. His legal disputes didn't end here.
In March 2019, he was tested positive for human growth hormone. Wright was again suspended for 80 games of the season. He issued a statement saying, “Although I do not dispute the validity of the test, I was shocked as I have never intentionally ingested anything for performance-enhancing purposes, I have fully cooperated with M.L.B. and will continue to try and identify the source of the result.”
