Meet Kevin Smith

Fans of college football would know of this gentleman. Kevin Smith, the running back, recently joined the University of Mississippi as the running backs coach. He also had a splendid college football career to boast of. Now that he has settled down into a nine-to-five job with his large family, we wonder what he is up to. Kevin Smith attended Southridge High School in Miami, Florida where he was a three-year letterman, and a two-time All-Dade County selection as both a running back and safety.
He went on to attend the University of Central Florida where he played for the Knights. He established new career records while at college for rushing attempts and carries. Kevin was touted as a dark horse candidate for the Heisman Memorial Trophy and ended up finishing in eighth place. He was also the first consensus All-American from UCF. He graduated in 2015 with a degree in liberal studies.

Kevin Smith had a very impressive pre-season display at his Pro Day. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2008. He again maintained an impressive record of rushing attempts, rushing yards, and carries.
In the 2011 season, he gave the Lions 51 touchdowns, establishing a new franchise high. He left the club in 2012. In 2014, he was an off-season and practice squad member for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
In 2015, Kevin retired from professional football and decided to enter into the coaching profession. He was a coaching intern at his alma mater, the University of Central Florida from 2015 to 2016. He then became a quality control administrator.
In 2017, he joined the Florida Atlantic University as the new running backs coach. He left the position in 2019. In 2020, he joined the University of Mississippi’s Ole Miss Rebels football program as the running backs coach.
