The Indian cricket coach, former commentator, cricketer, and current head coach of the Indian national cricket team Ravi Shastri's full name is Ravishankar Jayadritha Shastri. He was born on 27 May 1962. He is a former Indian cricket captain. He was an all-rounder who batted right-handed and bowled left-arm spin. His international career started when he was 18 years old and lasted for 12 years. He started his career purely as a bowler but gradually became more of a batsman who could bowl. Shastri's family originally came from Mangalore in Karnataka but he was born and brought up in Mumbai. He is of Mangalorean descent and studied at Don Bosco School, Matunga in Mumbai, and later studied commerce at R.A.poddar college where he developed as a cricketer.
