After briefly exploring gymnastics, she discovered her passion for pole vaulting while attending Newport Harbor High School, eventually establishing herself as one of the country's most promising vaulters. Stokke's notable accomplishments include winning the age 15/16 United States title in 2004, setting a championship record of 3.81 m (12 ft 6 in).
