John Patrick McEnroe Jr. is a retired American tennis player, often considered among the greatest in the history of the sport. He was born in West Germany and his parents were American. On August 1, 1986, John McEnroe first married actress Tatum O'Neal, the daughter of American actor Ryan O'Neal. He already had a son, Kevin, with his ex-wife Tatum. They had two more children, Sean and Emily. They were together from 1986 to 1994. After their divorce, they were originally awarded joint custody of the children, but in 1998 McEnroe was awarded sole custody due to O'Neal's drug problems. In 1997, McEnroe married rock singer Patty Smyth with whom he has two daughters, Anna and Ava, and a stepdaughter, Ruby from Smyth's previous marriage to musician Richard Hell. John McEnroe's current wife Patty Smyth was born on June 26, 1957 in New York City. She were raised up in the Brooklyn. Her parents were into show business. Before joining band, Patty Smyth lived herself by waiting tables at a steakhouse. In 1981, she joined the band Scandal as a vocalist. The band earned a lot of success, but there were problems within the group that ended up with their break up. In 1987, Smyth released her debut solo album, Never Enough. She released her self-titled solo album in 1992. Smyth co-wrote the song, “Look What Love Has Done,” which was nominated for a Grammy and Academy Award as it was featured in the film Junior. Her latest album, Come On December was released in 2015. In 1993, Smyth met retired tennis player John McEnroe at a Christmas party in L.A. Before McEnroe, Smyth was married to singer and guitarist, Richard Hell. They got married in 1985, and have a daughter named Ruby together. The two were divorced in 1986.
